gta ARCHIVE ETH ZURICH

Since the founding of the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) at ETH Zurich in 1967, the gta Archive has collected, archived and made accessible original documents on architecture, urban planning, civil engineering, design and landscape design from the mid-19th century to the present day.

The gta archive sees itself as an active research platform within an internationally oriented university. It underpins the current architectural discourse in theory and practice from a historical perspective. In keeping with the ETH mission statement, the archive is also involved in teaching by providing students and researchers with low-threshold access to historical originals. In addition, it makes a significant contribution to safeguarding cultural assets and preserving knowledge. The archive holdings are of international importance and reflect Switzerland’s and ETH’s lively relations with the world.
